Position Overview:

As a Senior Research Scientist in the CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) unit, you will play a key role in molecule development, process optimization, and chemical synthesis for pharmaceutical and agrochemical applications. You will leverage your expertise in multi-step synthesis, diketene chemistry, and industrial feasibility to lead research initiatives, scale up processes, and contribute to the commercialization of products.

Key Responsibilities:

Molecule Development:
- Develop pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediate molecules.
- Utilize multi-step synthesis and diketene chemistry in the development process.
- Ensure adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) for sample preparation, impurity isolation, and characterization.
Research and Optimization:
- Conduct comprehensive literature searches and process route scouting to enhance development processes.
- Scale processes from lab to production level, supporting plant commercialization.
- Prepare and document technology packages, and synthesize impurities for further isolation.
- Investigate material of construction (MOC), effluent minimization, and catalyst/solvent recyclability for process optimization.
Chemical Synthesis:
- Synthesize specialty chemicals, pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates, and heterocyclic compounds.
- Demonstrate expertise in multi-step synthesis, impurity characterization, and data interpretation to ensure industrial feasibility.
- Execute complex reactions such as halogenation (chlorination, fluorination, bromination), Grignard reactions, lithiation, cyclization, condensation, and reduction.
Technical Expertise:
- Lead pilot studies and commissioning of processes, including exposure to pressure reactions.
- Develop vapor-phase and continuous processes for industrial scale.

Qualifications and Experience:

Educational Background:
- PhD or MSc in Organic Chemistry.
Professional Experience:
- 6 to 8 years of industrial experience in process development, synthesis, and lab-scale up.
- Strong hands-on experience in working with multi-step synthesis and process optimization.
Skills and Competencies:
- Expertise in diketene chemistry and impurity characterization.
- Proficiency in halogenation, Grignard reactions, and complex synthetic chemistries.
- Familiarity with process scaling, commercialization, and industrial feasibility analysis.
- Experience in conducting research to develop efficient and sustainable chemical processes.
