Job Title

Medical Affairs / Scientific Engagement Role (Therapy Area Expert – Field Based)


Job Summary

The role serves as the primary scientific interface between the organization and external healthcare stakeholders, including thought leaders and specialists. It focuses on scientific engagement, medical affairs execution, insights generation, and supporting therapeutic area strategy.


Key Responsibilities

1. Thought Leader Engagement

  • Identify, map, and profile key opinion leaders (KOLs) in assigned geography and therapy area

  • Build and maintain long-term scientific relationships with healthcare professionals

  • Act as a trusted scientific counterpart for physicians, pharmacists, and hospital stakeholders

2. Medical Affairs Execution

  • Execute medical affairs strategy including:

    • Medical education and product education

    • Advisory boards and scientific meetings

    • Pre-license and special medical projects

  • Represent the organization in internal and external scientific platforms

3. Scientific Expertise & Communication

  • Discuss clinical data proactively and reactively with specialists

  • Address scientific queries from healthcare professionals

  • Ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory standards (COBE guidelines)

4. Insights & Strategy Development

  • Collect insights on disease trends and treatment patterns from KOLs

  • Conduct disease area analysis and identify unmet needs, practice gaps, and data gaps

  • Contribute to annual medical strategy planning

  • Translate insights into actionable strategic medical plans

5. Evidence Generation & Publications

  • Collaborate with thought leaders on:

    • Reviews and meta-analyses

    • Case studies and case series

    • Patient-reported outcomes research

  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with therapy leads, medical affairs, and commercial teams

  • Support optimal patient outcomes through data-driven communication

  • Train sales and marketing teams on medical updates and therapy knowledge

7. Pipeline & Product Support

  • Identify unmet medical needs and contribute to product ideation

  • Support development of differentiated products

  • Handle complex scientific queries related to products and disease areas

8. Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure all activities follow company ethical and compliance policies

  • Ensure timely approval of medical and promotional materials


Qualifications

Educational Requirement

  • MBBS with:

    • Postgraduate qualification (minimum 2 years), OR

    • MBBS + MBA from a reputed institute

Experience

  • Fresh postgraduate OR up to 2 years of experience in field-based Medical Affairs
