About the Role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking an accomplished Senior Oversight Director, Project Management to join the Respiratory Trials division within our PPD® clinical research services. This leadership role is fully remote within the United States and is responsible for driving strategic oversight, operational excellence, and high-quality delivery across complex respiratory clinical trial programs.

This position requires current and demonstrated expertise in Respiratory clinical trial indications within a CRO environment. Candidates must clearly show this experience in their application.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight for respiratory clinical trial portfolios across the Therapeutic Unit.

  • Serve as the senior executive liaison for clients, ensuring strong partnerships and exceptional service delivery.

  • Oversee financial forecasting for respiratory programs, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business objectives.

  • Drive operational innovation, risk mitigation strategies, and continuous improvement across project teams.

  • Support Project Leads with strategic decision-making while enabling autonomy in execution.

  • Shape proposal strategy and contribute to bid defense discussions.

  • Collaborate with Respiratory Unit leadership to implement growth strategies and operational enhancements.

  • Advise People Managers to support workforce capability, clinical excellence, and client-driven needs.

  • Act as a champion for organizational initiatives, change management, and new service offerings.

Experience Required

  • 15+ years of experience in clinical research or related fields, including substantial operational leadership.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Respiratory clinical trials, preferably involving rare disease indications.

  • 7+ years of management experience, including oversight of large teams or complex clinical programs.

  • Proven experience working within a CRO environment is mandatory.

  • Demonstrated expertise in regulatory requirements (ICH, global/regional guidelines), clinical operations, financial management, and strategic delivery.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced academic qualification in life sciences, healthcare, or a related field.

  • Advanced understanding of regulatory and clinical trial authorization requirements.

  • Strong financial acumen with expertise in budgeting and resource forecasting.

  • Outstanding analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven executive presence, strategic communication, and presentation skills.

  • Exceptional leadership and coaching abilities.

  • Strength in negotiation, client engagement, and stakeholder management.

  • High proficiency in risk management, decision-making, and operational governance.

Work Environment & Additional Requirements

  • Ability to perform effectively in a remote setting.

  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and high-pressure situations.

  • Proficient with standard office technology and digital tools.

  • Travel may be required for client meetings or internal engagements.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Must pass a comprehensive background check, including drug screening.
