Position Overview:
The Senior Associate Scientist – Inflammation Biology will join Gilead’s Inflammation group to drive discovery research and early development of novel immunotherapeutics. This lab-based role focuses on understanding disease biology, advancing drug candidates, and contributing to multidisciplinary projects addressing inflammatory conditions such as atopic dermatitis, SLE, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently design, execute, and analyze in vitro and in vivo experiments to identify and validate drug targets and combinations.

  • Contribute to research reports, peer-reviewed manuscripts, INDs, and patent filings.

  • Select appropriate methods and techniques for experiments, applying advanced understanding of project goals.

  • Present results, interpret data, and provide insights for decision-making.

  • Serve as a resource and mentor for colleagues within the department.

  • Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to advance projects.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of relevant experience OR Master’s Degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 9+ years of experience with a BS degree, or 8+ years with an MS degree in a related scientific discipline.

  • Strong background in immunology and experience in inflammatory disease research.

  • Proficiency in immune cell culture, multi-color flow cytometry, CRISPR/transfection of cells, protein/RNA quantification (ELISA, MSD, Luminex).

  • Experience with tissue processing and analysis in preclinical mouse models of autoimmunity.

  • Computer literacy: GraphPad Prism, Excel, PowerPoint, Word.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $126,820 – $164,120 (varies based on experience and qualifications).
