Position Overview

The Simulation Expert will play a key role in MRI hardware research and development by developing and applying advanced computational models, primarily in electromagnetics (RF and EMC), while also contributing to thermal, structural, and CFD simulations. The role involves supporting design decisions, evaluating performance and safety, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to advance MRI technology.


Key Responsibilities

Computational Modeling & Simulation

  • Develop and apply computational models in:

    • Electromagnetics (RF, EMC)

    • Thermal analysis

    • Structural mechanics

    • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

  • Translate system-level and subsystem-level requirements into mathematical and computational models with appropriate fidelity.

  • Perform concept validation, feasibility assessments, and trade-off studies to support design decisions.

Performance & Safety Evaluation

  • Assess MRI hardware performance, safety, and reliability through simulations.

  • Clearly communicate simulation results, assumptions, limitations, and recommendations.

  • Ensure model credibility, validation, documentation, and traceability according to internal and regulatory standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Integrate models across multiple engineering and physics domains to generate system-level insights.

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, scientists, and stakeholders.

  • Ensure simulation outcomes are actionable and aligned with project goals.

Project Planning & Leadership

  • Plan and prioritize modeling activities.

  • Estimate effort, track progress, and report status to stakeholders.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the Hardware Modeling team.

Continuous Learning & Innovation

  • Stay updated on advancements in:

    • Modeling methodologies

    • Simulation software

    • MRI and medical imaging technologies

  • Drive innovation through improved workflows and advanced modeling techniques.


Required Qualifications

Education

  • Master's Degree or PhD in:

    • Electrical Engineering

    • Applied Physics

    • Biomedical Engineering

    • Related technical disciplines

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant industry experience.

  • Experience in medical technology, preferably MRI R&D or closely related domains.

Technical Skills

Simulation Tools

Strong hands-on experience with:

  • Ansys

  • CST Studio Suite

  • Sim4Life

  • COMSOL Multiphysics

  • MATLAB Simscape / Simulink

Programming

  • MATLAB

  • Python

  • C/C++ (preferred but not mandatory)

Core Technical Knowledge

  • Electromagnetic simulation (RF and EMC)

  • Applied mathematics and physics

  • Mechatronics

  • Model validation and verification

  • System-level engineering concepts

Research & Innovation

  • Demonstrated research mindset through:

    • RF receive coils

    • Birdcage resonators

    • Other MRI hardware components

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • M.Tech/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or Biomedical Engineering.

  • 5–10+ years of simulation experience.

  • Expertise in EM simulations and MRI hardware.
