Role Overview

The Senior Programmer Analyst will serve as a subject matter expert responsible for the configuration, maintenance and administration of the Pharmacovigilance (PV) Safety Database – Oracle Argus. This role ensures that system activities comply with SOPs, regulatory requirements, industry standards and internal policies. The position involves developing technical solutions, overseeing system upgrades, supporting data migration projects, and providing programming and analytical support to PV and clinical research teams.

This is a fully remote position designed for experienced professionals with strong technical expertise in safety systems and PV databases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with PV business users to define requirements and propose technical solutions.

  • Generate custom and ad-hoc reports from the PV Safety Database using internal tools, OBIEE or SQL.

  • Develop, validate and deliver aggregate safety reports.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve end-user issues related to the Safety Database.

  • Support and execute routine medical dictionary upgrades.

  • Coordinate with the database vendor for upgrades, enhancements and issue resolution.

  • Support internal and external audits of the PV Safety Database.

  • Manage system changes under established change-control procedures, including configuration updates and system enhancements.

  • Create and configure new tenants and distribution rule frameworks within Oracle Argus.

  • Lead data migration and validation activities, including development of migration plans, design specifications and summary reports.

  • Provide programming support for safety data reviews and reporting requests.

  • Lead assigned project initiatives, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and timelines.

  • Contribute to process improvement, SOP development and team capability building.

  • Manage workload effectively to meet deadlines and ensure high-quality outputs.

  • Estimate time and effort for project proposals and cost planning.

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in computer science, life sciences, engineering or related fields.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in system administration, PV systems, clinical data management or pharmaceutical technology.

  • Hands-on experience in Oracle Argus Safety, including system configuration, database structure, mapping and rule setup.

  • Strong SQL programming capabilities and experience with complex data systems.

  • Proven track record in safety data migration projects.

  • Experience in generating safety and analytical reports.

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language.
