Job Overview
Piramal Pharma Limited (PPL) is seeking a highly experienced Senior Principal Scientist – Peptide Synthesis to lead the design, development, and optimization of peptide synthesis processes. This role will drive innovation, enhance research capabilities, and contribute to the strategic direction of the peptides R&D program. The position requires a strong background in peptide chemistry, operational excellence, and leadership skills to manage complex projects and guide cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategic plans for peptide R&D in alignment with organizational goals.
Lead peptide synthesis projects from concept through completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Collaborate with process development, purification, and cross-functional teams for seamless integration of peptide synthesis into downstream processes.
Drive innovation by exploring new techniques, technologies, and approaches for peptide synthesis.
Foster an innovative R&D environment and mentor research teams to adopt new chemical technologies.
Lead initiatives for solvent recovery, yield improvement, and process optimization.
Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and support successful regulatory inspections with no critical observations.
Participate in major EHS cultural transformation initiatives to enhance laboratory and operational safety.
Maintain strong stakeholder engagement with internal departments (Operations, Quality, Marketing, Finance) and external vendors or customers as needed.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or related field.
Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in peptide synthesis and purification.
Proven leadership experience in managing scientific projects and guiding research teams.
Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with regulatory compliance in peptide drug development.
