Job Summary

ICON plc is hiring a Senior Medical Director – Neurology to lead Phase II–III clinical trials and regulatory strategy for global biotech clients. This is a remote role based in the United States, offering the opportunity to shape product development and lifecycle strategies within a globally respected CRO. Candidates with proven biotech leadership and regulatory engagement are ideal.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional Clinical Development (CD) teams from Phase II–III through global registration.

  • Collaborate with the Global Project Team (GPT) and Global Brand Team to shape clinical development strategy.

  • Develop and manage Clinical Development Plans (CDPs), timelines, budgets, and resources.

  • Analyze clinical data for risk-benefit assessments and initiate strategic actions.

  • Oversee the creation of medical sections in regulatory documentation.

  • Represent medical strategy and study updates to regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.

  • Approve and align global and domestic study concepts with overarching clinical strategy.

  • Define publication strategy in coordination with Global Strategic Marketing and Medical Affairs.

  • Build and manage relationships with external advisors and key opinion leaders.

  • Provide medical evaluation for licensing opportunities and contribute to patient-focused trial design.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • MD or equivalent medical degree with board certification preferred.

  • Experience in biotech clinical leadership, including successful registration of therapies.

  • Strong regulatory knowledge and direct involvement with agency interactions.

  • Cultural adaptability for collaboration across US and European teams.

  • Creative, agile thinker with strategic mindset and excellent communication skills.
