Position Overview

Abbott is seeking a Senior EP Field Clinical Specialist for the Central and Western United States. This field-based, remote position requires up to 80% travel to support clinical studies, site procedures, and Abbott EP technologies. The ideal candidate is an experienced electrophysiology professional with a proven track record in clinical operations, technical troubleshooting, and stakeholder engagement.

This role serves as a critical liaison between Abbott, clinical research sites, and cross-functional teams. The specialist will provide clinical, technical, and procedural expertise to optimize trial execution, ensure protocol adherence, and contribute to the successful deployment of EP therapies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide field support for clinical research enrollment, procedures, and study execution within the EP therapeutic area.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in technology, protocols, and clinical trial procedures for Abbott stakeholders, site staff, and physicians.

  • Develop and maintain productive clinical territories, including site qualification, contract/budget facilitation, and enrollment strategies.

  • Train site personnel on protocol requirements, Abbott technologies, and study procedures.

  • Identify and resolve technical or procedural issues to ensure study goals and regulatory requirements are met.

  • Collaborate with Clinical Scientists, EP Business Unit teams, and cross-functional departments to provide site feedback, optimize procedures, and improve data quality.

  • Act as a scientific interface with healthcare professionals, supporting educational initiatives, product launches, and advisory boards.

  • Contribute to strategic initiatives, territory best practices, and continuous process improvements.

  • Mentor junior field clinical staff and provide technical leadership within the region.

  • Communicate critical study updates to management and study teams, ensuring alignment with clinical and corporate objectives.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biological Sciences, or a related field; certifications in cardiology/electrophysiology preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of progressive clinical experience in cardiovascular or electrophysiology settings, including EP lab or cath lab exposure.

  • Field-based clinical experience with a strong understanding of EP procedures and protocols.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and clinical documentation tools.

  • Recognized as a technical and clinical leader beyond local territories.

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills with exceptional presentation and influence capabilities.

  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and follow-up skills with high attention to detail.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and travel extensively (up to 80%) during active trial enrollment periods.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership in clinical studies or EP technology deployment.

  • Experience contributing to clinical trial design, site management, or protocol optimization.

  • Ability to serve as a resource for internal training, advisory boards, and cross-functional collaboration.


Compensation

Base Pay: $75,300 – $150,700 (may vary by location and experience)
