About the Role
Amgen is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to support advanced analytics initiatives that drive product quality, patient safety, and continuous improvement. This role focuses on identifying patterns, root causes, and improvement opportunities using machine learning, operational research, semantic analysis, and statistical modelling. You will work closely with multi-functional teams to develop data-driven insights and implement analytics solutions aligned with Amgen’s mission to serve patients.
Key Responsibilities
Collect, clean, validate, and manage large datasets related to product performance and patient feedback.
Ensure high standards of data accuracy, transparency, and accessibility.
Build, maintain, and enhance databases used for product and patient complaint tracking.
Perform exploratory, targeted, and statistical analysis to identify trends, correlations, and root causes.
Develop predictive models to anticipate product issues and patient concerns.
Create and deliver analytical reports, dashboards, and visualizations for stakeholders.
Present insights to cross-functional teams, including Quality, Product Development, and Customer Service.
Work with regulatory partners to ensure alignment with healthcare and quality standards.
Collaborate with product complaint teams to implement improvements and monitor outcomes.
Partner with software developers to translate algorithms into operational tools and solutions.
Contribute to applied, predictive, and prescriptive analytics projects.
Conduct time-series analysis, descriptive statistics, and hypothesis testing.
Work with data engineers on data quality checks, cleansing, and analytics pipeline development.
Maintain complete documentation, annotated code, and analytical artifacts.
Stay updated on emerging data science trends, technologies, and best practices in healthcare analytics.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Educational Requirements
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
Work Experience
8 to 12 years of experience working with analytical tools and programming languages such as SAS, SPSS, Python, and data visualization platforms including Tableau, Power BI, Spotfire, Smartsheet, BioConnect, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications
Proven expertise in applied analytics, descriptive statistics, feature engineering, and predictive modelling.
Hands-on experience in regression, clustering, classification, and hypothesis testing.
Proficiency in time-series forecasting and advanced trend analysis.
Experience using Databricks for large-scale analytics.
Experience working with healthcare datasets, product complaints, or regulatory environments.
Certifications in Python, SAS, Salesforce, or SQL (preferred).
Strong communication skills with ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
