    Job Title: Senior Clinical Device Specialist

    General Summary of Duties:
    The Senior Clinical Device Specialist plays a vital role in developing workflows for clinic interrogation, billing, and patient management. Key responsibilities include coordinating advisories, managing schedules, overseeing offline monitors, and generating billing reports. This position also involves developing workflows for the Veterans Affairs (VA), communicating billing information to patients, scheduling and leading meetings, and providing continuous learning resources. Additional tasks include maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance, organizing staff training sessions, creating user-friendly resources, and developing training plans. The role supports device administrative functions, collaborates with billing and heart failure clinics, manages outreach clinics, and handles intervals and transmissions. The Specialist will also make patient calls, provide high-level device support, liaise with device representatives, act as a liaison for electrophysiology providers, develop standards of care, and serve as the cardiac device system administrator.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develop and maintain workflows for clinic interrogation, billing, heart failure management, and patient care.
    • Coordinate and manage device advisories, establishing provider guidelines and communicating effectively with patients.
    • Maintain device schedules, accounting for PTO, clinic needs, and appointment types; conduct weekly audits for scheduling conflicts.
    • Oversee the management and troubleshooting of approximately 250 offline monitors on a weekly basis.
    • Establish and revise billing communication workflows for approximately 300 patients each week.
    • Support large-scale patient management and billing compliance, including acting as the system administrator for remote logins and account creation.

    Qualifications:

    • Education:

      • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in science or biomedical engineering from an accredited institution, completion of a cardiac device education program, or two years of patient care experience, including exposure to implantable cardiac devices and complex arrhythmia recognition. Progressive professional experience, education, or training may substitute for college education on a year-for-year basis.
      • Minimum: Certification from an accredited medical assisting or related program.

    • Experience:

      • Two (2) years of experience as a cardiology technician or in a similar role, demonstrating proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and remote monitoring of defibrillators and pacemakers. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may substitute for experience. Proficiency in using programmers from St. Jude, Boston Scientific, and Medtronic, as well as remote monitoring platforms for device follow-up.

    • Certificate/License:

      • Preferred: Certification in Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation, Medical Assisting, and/or a nursing license. Current ACLS certification.
      • Minimum: Current BLS certification required.
