Position Overview

As a Senior Assistant, you will be part of a dynamic Process R&D team responsible for custom synthesis, scale-up, and pilot plant production of specialty chemicals. You will manage kilo lab operations and contribute to product planning, analytical characterization, and process improvements.


Key Responsibilities

🔬 R&D and Process Development

  • Execute process R&D, custom synthesis, scale-up, and pilot plant operations

  • Conduct kilo lab production, ranging from 1L to 50L reactions

  • Perform product characterization using:

    • IR, NMR, HPLC, Mass spectrometry

🧪 Chemical Synthesis and Troubleshooting

  • Design and execute organic synthesis pathways

  • Handle pyrophoric and moisture-sensitive reagents at 20L scale

  • Conduct reaction mechanism and stereochemistry assessments

🔧 Process Improvements & Planning

  • Identify and implement process improvements for yield and safety optimization

  • Troubleshoot production challenges independently

  • Plan and schedule projects for small-scale catalog and custom manufacturing

🧼 Purification Techniques

  • Perform purification via:

    • High vacuum distillation

    • Recrystallization

    • Column chromatography

⚗️ Tech Transfer & Scale-Up

  • Support tech transfer from lab to pilot plant

  • Contribute to scale-up strategies ensuring safety and reproducibility


Candidate Profile

🎓 Education

  • M.Sc. in:

    • Organic Chemistry

    • Industrial Chemistry

💼 Experience

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in:

    • Process R&D

    • Custom synthesis

    • Pilot plant/kilo lab production


Required Skills & Expertise

  • Strong foundation in organic chemistry and reaction mechanisms

  • Experience in scale-up chemistry (1L to 50L)

  • Proficient in analytical techniques:

    • NMR, IR, GC, HPLC, Mass, elemental analysis

  • Expertise in handling hazardous chemical reactions and safety standards

  • Independent execution of reactions, including shift operations

  • Familiarity with chemical industry safety protocols
