About the Team: Protein Biology

The Protein Biology team focuses on large-scale functional validation of antibodies, with an emphasis on reagent quality and specificity. The team’s core activities include data mining and processing, Western blotting, high-efficiency and high-resolution immuno-fluorescence imaging, immunohistochemistry, ChIP (Chromatin Immunoprecipitation), and gene-silencing. These efforts aim to provide advanced application tags to the antibody portfolio, supporting high-quality product validation and product information creation to promote research use.


Role & Responsibilities

Purpose:
The Scientist-III will contribute to the antibody validation workflow, with an understanding of target biology validation and antibody reproducibility. The role involves demonstrating scientific proficiency in experimental planning and execution, with a focus on producing quality data sets that enable market differentiation. The successful candidate should have prior research team experience, proven goal-setting capabilities, and a commitment to timely delivery aligned with program goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Acquire and utilize knowledge of key protein biology aspects to deliver results in antibody validation and characterization.
  • Regularly mine literature and stay updated with developments in antibody validation.
  • Perform antibody validation in a fast-paced environment, ensuring attention to detail and schedule adherence.
  • Lead a team of scientists informally in a matrix-style operation, providing technical and operational supervision.
  • Mentor and train junior scientists in research, experimental execution, data interpretation, and presentation.
  • Drive conceptualization within teams to develop successful protocols for addressing complex biological targets.
  • Collaborate with supporting functions such as product management, program management, and business development to meet program goals.

Candidate Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • PhD in molecular biology, immunology, biotechnology, or biochemistry with 4-5 years of experience, or
  • Master’s degree with 5-10 years of experience in a related field.

Skills & Expertise:

  • Extensive experience in cell and molecular biology workflows, protein assays, protein-protein interactions (e.g., co-immunoprecipitation), and immunoassay development.
  • Proven expertise in immunoassays such as Western blotting, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, or ELISA.
  • Strong ability to communicate research data effectively and provide expert-level technical troubleshooting to resolve scientific issues and develop new protocols/methods.
  • Experience with antibody development platforms is desirable.
