Role Overview

The R&D Learning Enablement Specialist plays a strategic role within Amgen’s R&D Strategy & Operations organization, supporting the R&D Knowledge & Learning function and the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO). This position is responsible for designing, executing, and continuously improving onboarding and learning experiences that strengthen scientific, analytical, and operational capabilities across R&D.

This role specifically supports the Center for Design & Analytics (CfDA), including Biostatistics, Statistical Programming, and Data Management, ensuring that learning journeys are structured, scalable, compliant, and aligned with business priorities in a highly regulated, data-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities

Learning Enablement & Experience Design

  • Design and deliver end-to-end onboarding, upskilling, and continuous learning programs for CfDA teams in collaboration with subject matter experts.

  • Build role-based onboarding frameworks that accelerate time-to-productivity and enhance employee engagement.

  • Continuously improve learning pathways using learner feedback, performance metrics, and business insights.

Program Design & Delivery

  • Coordinate and execute learning programs in partnership with local learning enablement teams and CfDA stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with content owners to develop, update, localize, and sustain learning materials.

  • Apply data analytics and reporting to measure learning effectiveness, participation, and impact.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with CfDA leadership, global Learning Business Partners, and SMEs to identify capability gaps and implement targeted learning solutions.

  • Act as a primary point of contact for onboarding and learning initiatives within CfDA, ensuring alignment and clear communication.

Operational Excellence & Compliance

  • Manage learning calendars, scheduling, and logistics in collaboration with the R&D Learning Enablement team.

  • Utilize AI-enabled tools and automation (e.g., scheduling bots, dashboards) to improve learning operations and user experience.

  • Partner with GxP and Quality teams to ensure compliance with regulated learning requirements, maintaining inspection-ready documentation and records.


Education & Experience Requirements

Minimum Experience (any one of the following):

  • Doctorate degree with 2+ years of relevant experience

  • Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of relevant experience

Relevant experience includes:

  • Learning Enablement or Learning Operations

  • R&D, Biostatistics, Data Analytics, or Clinical/Scientific environments

  • Regulated training or compliance-driven learning programs


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Experience supporting learning programs in regulated (GxP) environments.

  • Strong understanding of learning operations, onboarding frameworks, and capability development.

  • Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and learning logistics.

  • Data and reporting literacy, with experience using dashboards and analytics to assess learning impact.

  • Familiarity with AI-enabled learning tools, automation, or digital learning platforms.

  • Excellent organizational, project coordination, and stakeholder management skills.

  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on compliance, documentation accuracy, and audit readiness.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across global teams and time zones.
