Position Purpose

The Principal Scientist will be an integral member of discovery project teams, collaborating closely with biology, chemistry, and drug metabolism/pharmacokinetics (DMPK) colleagues. The role focuses on designing and applying quantitative model-based analyses—including physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling, mechanistic PK/PD modeling, and systems pharmacology—to guide candidate selection, dosing recommendations, and experimental design for preclinical and early clinical studies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Apply PK/PD modeling to inform decision-making from early discovery through early clinical development.

  • Develop and guide modeling and simulation strategies within the organization.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to predict pharmacokinetic profiles and quantify exposure-response relationships for biomarkers, efficacy, and safety.

  • Design and optimize in vivo and in vitro experiments to support modeling efforts.


Qualifications

Education

  • PhD in Pharmacology, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field with at least 4 years relevant industry experience, OR

  • Master’s degree with at least 6 years relevant industry experience.

Experience & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics principles.

  • Experience performing PK and/or PK/PD modeling preferred.

  • Proven expertise in mathematical modeling and simulation (peer-reviewed publications a plus).

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Team-oriented and able to work collaboratively across disciplines.

Other

  • Position may require up to 10% travel.


Compensation

  • Base salary range: $115,000 – $197,800

  • Eligible for annual performance-based cash bonus (discretionary).
