Pharmacy Technician I – Clinical Research | Madison, WI


Job Summary:

Fortrea, a top global Contract Research Organization (CRO), is hiring a Pharmacy Technician I to join its Early Phase Clinical Research Unit in Madison, WI. This full-time, on-site role offers pharmacy professionals the opportunity to support cutting-edge clinical trials across various therapeutic indications. Ideal for candidates passionate about clinical drug development, GMP/GCP compliance, and investigational product handling, this role bridges pharmaceutical expertise with the world of clinical research.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical pharmacy support within clinical research protocols.

  • Maintain direct communication with supply function organizations.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance with GMP and GCP standards.

  • Understand and implement protocol-specific API/IMP handling procedures.

  • Participate in study meetings and assist Pharmacist/Study Leads in sponsor interactions.

  • Manage receipt, storage, packaging, and disposition of APIs and IMPs.

  • Maintain accurate records related to pharmaceutical products.

  • Support dose preparation and the manufacturing/assembly/dispensing of products.

  • Generate and apply manufacturing labels for clinical trial products.

  • Ensure pharmacy cleanliness and organizational standards are maintained.

  • Perform additional duties as required to support study operations.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification recommended.

  • 1–2 years of pharmaceutical experience preferred.

  • Hospital pharmacy technician and sterile preparation experience strongly desired.

  • Familiarity with GMP, GCP, and clinical trial protocols.

  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.
