Position Overview:
The Outpatient Pharmacist at Dayton Children’s will be responsible for dispensing pharmaceutical products for patients on the outpatient side of the hospital. This role involves reviewing prescriptions, verifying correct dosages, and providing final verification and dispensing of medications. The pharmacist will ensure medications are dispensed accurately and efficiently, with particular attention to pediatric-specific dosing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review prescriptions and verify the correct dosage.
  • Dispense medications with final verification, ensuring accuracy.
  • Provide drug information, especially pediatric-specific information, using appropriate drug references.
  • Serve as a resource for nurses and physicians regarding drug-related questions.
  • Consult with providers regarding treatment appropriateness.
  • Counsel patients and answer any medication-related questions.
  • Oversee daily operations within the department to ensure safe medication processing and delivery.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and verify products prepared by them.
  • Ensure adherence to State Board of Pharmacy laws and other regulatory agencies.

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD Degree is required.
  • Ohio Registered Pharmacist (RPh) certification with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
