Patient Care Technician – MedSurg / Pulmonary GI (Day Shift, Augusta, GA)

Job Overview

Piedmont Augusta Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join its Pulmonary GI Medical-Surgical Unit at the Augusta Downtown campus. This is a full-time day shift position (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) within one of the hospital’s high-volume, fast-paced units. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment and demonstrates dedication to patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of licensed clinical staff, including nurses and physicians.

  • Support patients across all age groups, from newborns to older adults, in accordance with hospital policies.

  • Assist with treatments, procedures, and use of clinical equipment appropriate to the unit.

  • Maintain accurate patient records, monitor patient conditions, and report changes to the clinical team.

  • Ensure patient comfort, hygiene, and safety, while promoting a positive healthcare experience.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

  • Minimum 6 months of acute care bedside patient care experience in a hospital or clinical facility required.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Certification from an accredited Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician program preferred.
