Job Overview:

As an Operation Specialist 1 in the Medical Information Contact Center (MI-CC), you will provide professional medical support to healthcare professionals (HCPs) and patients. This includes managing medical inquiries, documenting adverse events (AEs), product complaints (PCs), and ensuring accurate data entry for pharmacovigilance (PV) activities. The role excludes commercial sales support but involves managing MI requests forwarded by sales representatives.


Key Responsibilities:

Medical Support & Documentation

  • Receive and document incoming communications via phone, fax, or email related to:

    • Medical inquiries (MI)

    • Adverse events (AE)

    • Product complaints (PC)

  • Utilize medical knowledge to identify and document off-label use and adverse events accurately.

  • Complete and forward structured AE/PC forms to the Safety team for processing.

Team Communication & Reporting

  • Maintain effective communication with:

    • Local management teams

    • Lifecycle Safety teams

  • Report on project metrics, scope changes, issues, and process improvements.

Mentorship & Leadership (as applicable)

  • Depending on experience, provide:

    • Mentorship and training for less experienced staff

    • Support in resource allocation

Collaboration & Environment

  • Foster a positive, collaborative team environment

  • Support cross-functional teams within Lifecycle Safety

Shift & Availability

  • Willingness to work in night shifts to support global operations (e.g., US, Canada, EU, India)

  • Available to work within a 24/7 support model, including weekends and rotational shifts

  • Maintain a five-day workweek

Process & Training

  • Participate in training programs across Lifecycle Safety services

  • Contribute to implementation of new initiatives and process improvement efforts


Qualifications:

Criteria Details
Education High School Diploma in a scientific/healthcare discipline (Required)
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related field preferred
Experience 3–5 years in MI/AE/PC contact centers
Up to 1 year of experience in Pharmacovigilance (PV) required
Shifts Must be open to rotational/night shifts and weekend coverage
Medical Knowledge Strong grasp of medical terminology and clinical data handling

Skills & Competencies:

  • Knowledge of pharmacovigilance databases and client/internal systems

  • Understanding of global PV and clinical research regulations

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and web-based tools

  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and high-quality standards

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to:

    • Follow SOPs and guidelines

    • Work independently and in a team

    • Multitask and meet tight deadlines

    • Adapt to changing workloads and priorities
