Role Purpose

As an Occupational Health Nurse (OHN), you will develop and implement a comprehensive occupational health program tailored to facility needs. Your efforts will contribute to enhancing productivity, reducing health-related costs, and ensuring employee well-being. Essential aspects of this role include immediate care, health surveillance, job placement, regulatory compliance, case management, and health promotion.


Key Responsibilities

  • Occupational Health Program
    Design and manage facility-level programs addressing workplace health risks and threats.

  • Emergency & Incident Response
    Coordinate medical emergency response; engage in root cause analysis to prevent recurrence of illnesses or injuries.

  • Health Surveillance
    Oversee programs like hearing conservation, audiometry, respiratory checks, and management of reproductive or chemical exposure.

  • Record Management & Compliance
    Establish and maintain confidential occupational health records. Fulfill reporting obligations (e.g., OSHA, Workers' Compensation).

  • Case Management
    Collaborate with healthcare professionals, HR, and insurance partners to facilitate efficient return-to-work and benefits utilization.

  • Health Promotion & Counseling
    Lead wellness initiatives for employees and families. Provide health-related guidance within the nursing scope.

  • Hazard Identification & Mitigation
    Partner with EHS teams to identify risks and implement prevention strategies.

  • Program Evaluation & Improvement
    Monitor program effectiveness and champion continuous improvement—all within budget.

  • External Physician Partnership
    Establish and maintain relationships with external occupational health physicians for supplemental support.

  • Drug-Testing Program Support
    Administer on-site drug testing and follow-up procedures.

  • Ergonomic Assessments
    Apply basic ergonomic principles to conduct assessments and support risk reduction for musculoskeletal symptoms.

  • Professional Development
    Pursue necessary certifications (e.g., pulmonary function testing, hearing testing); engage in continuing education.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Licensed Registered Nurse (BSN preferred)

  • Minimum 3 years clinical nursing experience

  • Eligibility to work for any U.S. employer (no visa sponsorship) IndeedTeal

Preferred / Willing to Obtain:

  • Occupational Health certification

  • OSHA 30‑Hour certification (or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire)

  • Industrial ergonomics training (or willing to obtain within 6 months)

  • ASP, CSP, or ergonomic-specific certification (or intent to obtain within 2 years) Teal


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: Estimated between $68,000 – $93,500/year, depending on experience, location, and market data. Discretionary bonuses may apply. IndeedTeal
