MedTech Field Service Technician – On-Call / Per Diem

Overview

Join IQVIA MedTech as a Field Service Technician, where you’ll collaborate with healthcare professionals to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated medication dispensing systems in hospitals, pharmacies, and clinical environments.
This is an on-call, part-time opportunity — ideal for those seeking flexible hours and hands-on technical field experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair existing medical devices; document service activities.

  • Perform hardware replacements, software updates, and calibrations.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance (bi-annual or annual).

  • Support new device installations and configurations.

  • Perform routine system checks and record post-installation data.

  • Manage and maintain assigned parts and tools inventory.

  • Provide on-call support, including nights and weekends.

  • Complete paid training provided by IQVIA.


Requirements

  • Intermediate troubleshooting skills in electronics, mechanics, and electromechanical systems.

  • Preferred: Experience as a military technician, computer/electronics technician, or similar.

  • Background in healthcare, field service, biomedical, IT, pharmacy technician, or engineering strongly preferred.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Physically capable of lifting up to 70 lbs, and frequent bending, stooping, and pushing/pulling.

  • Must meet hospital vendor credentialing and vaccination requirements.


Travel Requirements

  • Local travel up to 2–3 hours to support clients.

  • Must respond within service-level timeframes (4h, 8h, 12h, or 24h) depending on the service ticket.

  • Active driver’s license and personal vehicle required.

  • Paid travel time and mileage reimbursement provided.


Preferred Qualifications

  • A+ Certification (preferred).

  • Ability to work independently in clinical environments.

  • Prior experience in pharmacy, medical equipment, or automation support a plus.

Vaccine & Credentialing Requirements

To access healthcare facilities, candidates must complete credentialing and meet immunization standards, including:

  • MMR, Varicella, TB, Tdap, Hepatitis B, Influenza (seasonal), and COVID-19 vaccines.
    Exemptions may apply for medical or religious reasons; however, client requirements may supersede these.
