Job Overview:

As a Medical Surveillance Specialist 1, you will provide a range of support functions for clinical studies, including monitoring clinical laboratory data, composing medical narratives, and interfacing with investigator sites. You will play a vital role in evaluating lab data and supporting medical teams to ensure data integrity and patient safety.


Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Data Monitoring

  • Monitor and evaluate laboratory results daily using sponsor-designated central labs.

  • Analyze lab data periodically via data management systems or eDC platforms.

  • Perform preliminary reviews of lab results against protocol-specific reference ranges and identify clinically significant variations.

  • Compare current lab values with historical data to assess trends or abnormalities.

Communication & Coordination

  • Act as a liaison between IQVIA’s Medical Services Department, the sponsor’s lab, and the project team.

  • Coordinate with investigator sites to gather additional clinical details, as needed.

  • Escalate potential trends or shifts in lab data to IQVIA Medical Advisors.

  • Provide critical information to project teams that could impact study outcomes.

Project Support

  • Collaborate with central lab staff to ensure appropriate subject lab result reporting.

  • Assist the Lead Medical Surveillance Specialist in project setup and planning.

  • Attend and contribute to project team meetings as required.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Professional Development

  • Stay current with laboratory and medical surveillance practices via continuous learning or seminars.


Qualifications:

Requirement Details
Education Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences or Allied Health Sciences (e.g., Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Nursing, Medical Lab Sciences, Physiotherapy) OR Healthcare fields (e.g., MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS)
Experience 2–6 years of relevant experience, including minimum 2.5 years in medical surveillance (Required)
Technical Skills Proficiency in data management systems, word processing tools, and understanding of scientific/clinical data
Communication Skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Soft Skills Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
Team Collaboration Ability to work effectively with colleagues, managers, and external clients
