Job Summary

Baxter is seeking a highly motivated Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) to join its Medical Affairs team in Gurgaon, India. This is a field-based scientific role responsible for engaging with healthcare professionals (HCPs), key opinion leaders (KOLs), and internal stakeholders through evidence-based scientific exchange.

The MSL will play a critical role in translating clinical research into real-world clinical practice, supporting cross-functional teams with medical expertise, and strengthening Baxter’s scientific engagement across the healthcare community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong scientific acumen, stakeholder engagement capabilities, and the ability to operate independently in a dynamic field environment.

Key Responsibilities

Medical Strategy Execution
Lead and execute medical strategies aligned with Baxter’s therapeutic portfolio and regional objectives, supporting the company’s scientific leadership in key therapeutic areas.

Scientific Engagement with Healthcare Professionals
Develop and maintain strong relationships with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders through scientific discussions, medical education initiatives, and dissemination of clinical evidence.

Clinical Insights and Field Intelligence
Collect, analyze, and communicate clinical insights from the field to internal stakeholders to support strategic decision-making, evidence generation priorities, and product lifecycle management.

Internal Medical Support and Training
Provide scientific and medical training to internal teams including commercial, market access, and cross-functional departments to enhance understanding of therapeutic landscapes and clinical data.

KOL and Speaker Development
Identify, engage, and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders while supporting speaker development programs, advisory boards, and scientific round-table discussions.

Evidence Generation and Research Collaboration
Support the development of real-world evidence studies, investigator-initiated research, and other clinical evidence generation initiatives to address data gaps and strengthen scientific positioning.

Compliance and Ethical Standards
Ensure all medical activities comply with regulatory guidelines, internal policies, and industry ethical standards, including review of promotional materials and participation in cross-functional governance processes.

Required Skills and Competencies

Scientific and Clinical Expertise
Strong understanding of clinical research methodologies and the ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific data effectively.

Stakeholder Engagement
Proven ability to build trusted relationships with healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders, and internal cross-functional teams.

Communication and Presentation Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with the ability to deliver impactful scientific presentations.

Strategic Thinking and Business Acumen
Ability to align medical activities with broader organizational and commercial objectives while maintaining scientific integrity.

Organizational and Time Management Skills
Strong prioritization and project management abilities to handle multiple requests and initiatives simultaneously.

Adaptability and Field Readiness
Comfortable working in a field-based environment with the flexibility to travel domestically and internationally for scientific meetings, conferences, and stakeholder engagement.

Education Requirements

  • MBBS, PharmD, M.Pharm, MSc, PhD in Life Sciences or equivalent healthcare qualification.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or related roles within the pharmaceutical or medical device industry.

  • Experience in therapeutic areas such as anesthesia, surgical care, or ICU environments will be considered an advantage.

  • Prior exposure to field-based medical roles or healthcare professional engagement is preferred.
