Position Overview:
Gilead is seeking a highly skilled Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for South Texas to support field-facing initiatives related to US Medical Affairs Plans of Action for Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), Hepatitis C (HCV), and Hepatitis B (HBV). The MSL will deliver scientific education, engage healthcare providers (HCPs), and provide actionable insights to internal teams to support evidence-based medical strategies and treatment optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

Scientific Engagement & Education

  • Deliver accurate, timely, and impactful clinical and scientific presentations to HCPs in liver disease, aligned with compliance and regulatory standards.

  • Implement defined goals and objectives aligned with USMA strategic initiatives for PBC, HCV, and HBV.

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key thought leaders, medical directors, and pharmacy directors.

  • Participate in advisory boards, educational programs, and clinical conferences to disseminate scientific knowledge.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Clinical Operations, Commercial, and Strategic Operations teams to ensure alignment of field strategies.

  • Provide timely insights on treatment trends, clinical practice patterns, and competitor activity.

  • Support clinical trial follow-ups and Investigator Sponsored Research initiatives.

  • Train Gilead colleagues and sales staff on scientific content and therapeutic area expertise.

Project Management & Compliance

  • Manage multiple priorities and field resources effectively.

  • Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical codes, FDA regulations, and company policies.

  • Prepare field tools and resources (e.g., slide decks) to support educational programs and engagement.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • BS/BA with 8+ years, MS/MA with 6+ years, or PhD/PharmD with 2+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.

  • Advanced medical or scientific degree preferred (MD, DO, PhD, PharmD, NP, PA).

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in medically related roles with expertise in liver disease and/or antiviral medicine.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical research processes, treatment landscapes, and professional society guidelines.

  • Proven ability to deliver presentations to large groups and engage HCPs effectively.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $165,495 – $214,170

  • Eligible for discretionary annual bonus, stock-based long-term incentives, paid time off, and company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
