Job Summary

Abbott Point of Care (APOC) is seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join its global team in a remote capacity covering California. The MSL will be the scientific and medical voice for APOC products, engaging with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals, and internal stakeholders to advance scientific exchange, product credibility, and educational outreach related to the i-STAT System and other diagnostic tools.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the scientific/medical expert for APOC products, providing education and support to KOLs, academic centers, and professional organizations.

  • Build and maintain relationships with Global Tier 1 KOLs to support research collaborations and advocacy.

  • Conduct scientific exchanges, presentations, and product training for healthcare professionals and internal teams.

  • Respond to off-label questions, provide clinical data insights, and manage inquiries related to APOC products.

  • Attend national and regional scientific meetings, conferences, and symposia to stay abreast of new developments and engage with industry professionals.

  • Assist in driving scientific publications and presentations from KOL-generated data.

  • Ensure all activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company standards.

  • Coordinate and execute regional education and scientific events.

  • Contribute to the development of professional communication materials and advocacy initiatives.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Advanced Degree (Master’s, PhD, MD, or equivalent) preferred.

  • 6–10 years of clinical or medical affairs experience, preferably in the medical device industry.

  • Strong understanding of clinical laboratories, assay principles, and IVD product use.

  • Knowledge of regulatory, compliance, and statistical requirements in clinical research.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confident public speaker.

  • Proven ability to develop long-term professional relationships with KOLs and HCPs.

  • Independent worker with strong organizational, time-management, leadership, and critical-thinking skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 75% across a multi-state territory.
