Job Summary

As a Medical Coder at Omega Healthcare Management Services, you will be responsible for accurately coding patient charts and diagnosis reports according to industry standards and client requirements. Your role will ensure the integrity and compliance of our coding processes, contributing to the overall efficiency and quality of healthcare management services.

Key Responsibilities

Chart Coding and Auditing:
- Accurately code patient charts and diagnosis reports using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
- Conduct thorough audits of coded charts to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and client specifications.
Production and Report Management:
- Update and manage production reports, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Clear pending reports and maintain organized records of all coding activities.
Client Requirements and Compliance:
- Understand and apply client requirements and specifications to ensure accurate and compliant coding.
- Stay updated with the latest coding guidelines, regulations, and industry standards.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with team leaders and other team members to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on coding practices and improvements.
Communication and Updates:
- Review and respond to emails promptly to stay informed about coding updates and client instructions.
- Implement changes and updates received from clients during production.
Issue Escalation:
- Identify and escalate any coding issues or discrepancies to the immediate supervisor.
- Ensure all escalated issues are documented and resolved in a timely manner.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure strict adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Participate in internal and external audits to maintain high standards of coding quality.

Qualifications and Skills

Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science (B.Sc./ M.Sc.), Pharmacy (B.Pharm/ M.Pharm), or Life Sciences.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in medical coding, with a strong understanding of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in medical coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Analytical Skills:
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to ensure accurate coding.
- Ability to interpret clinical information and apply appropriate codes.
Productivity and Time Management:
- Proven ability to meet productivity targets and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Communication Skills:
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
