Category: Medical Affairs / Oncology
Job ID: 202504-109906

Overview

Roche is a global leader in pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, dedicated to advancing science and improving patient outcomes across diverse healthcare ecosystems. As part of this mission, Roche is seeking a Medical Affairs Partner (Oncology) to strengthen its medical contributions, optimize the patient journey, and accelerate access to innovative cancer care solutions.

This senior-level position is designed for medical affairs professionals with strong oncology expertise, deep ecosystem understanding, and the ability to partner across internal and external networks to deliver meaningful healthcare impact.

Role Summary

The Medical Affairs Partner (MAP), Oncology, plays a key leadership role within the local affiliate, operating with a high level of autonomy to drive medical strategies that improve patient outcomes. The MAP collaborates closely with the country and APAC regional teams, working in shared cross-functional structures to influence the full patient journey and enhance access to high-quality cancer care.

This role is field-focused, requiring regular interaction with healthcare professionals, investigators, and institutions, while serving as a scientific ambassador for Roche’s oncology portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Medical Leadership

  • Oversee and analyze the entire oncology patient journey, identifying gaps and opportunities to improve outcomes.

  • Translate clinical and ecosystem insights into actionable strategies that support patient-centric initiatives and medical planning.

  • Ensure appropriate stewardship of Roche oncology products across their lifecycle through accurate, balanced scientific engagement with healthcare professionals.

Ecosystem Partnership

  • Engage clinicians, institutions, patient advocacy groups, therapeutic area experts, and research partners to co-create integrated healthcare solutions.

  • Represent Roche expertise, science, and innovation to the broader ecosystem.

  • Strengthen Roche’s position as a trusted medical and scientific partner across oncology care pathways.

Data Generation & Evidence Strategy

  • Identify key evidence gaps and support data generation activities including Phase IV studies, registries, real-world evidence and investigator-initiated research.

  • Collaborate closely with PDMA (Global Medical Affairs), Clinical Operations, Early Access Programs, and Compassionate Use initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with cross-border and cross-functional APAC medical networks to scale best practices and align medical strategies.

  • Act as a coach and mentor to enhance capabilities across medical affairs and related therapy areas.

  • Support compliance with GxP standards, internal governance, and promotional material review processes.

Operational Excellence

  • Leverage digital tools, data platforms, and medical technologies to increase field efficiency and scientific impact.

  • Drive priority initiatives with bold decision-making, stopping activities that do not add measurable value.

  • Maintain high standards of professional integrity, ethics, and compliance.

Skills and Experience Required

Mandatory Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Medical Affairs within Pharmaceuticals, Diagnostics, Biotechnology, or related health science fields.

  • Strong understanding of oncology, with preference for experience in Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) and Lung Cancer.

  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical research processes, medical strategy development, and scientific data dissemination.

  • Proven ability to engage and build relationships with Therapeutic Area Experts (TAEs), investigators, and healthcare stakeholders.

  • Experience in evidence generation, including real-world evidence projects and post-marketing research.

  • Experience in medical review of promotional materials.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional and agile environments.

  • Competency in digital tools and platforms for medical engagement.

  • Proficiency in English; local language fluency preferred.

  • Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience partnering with patient advocacy groups.

  • Experience in APAC region medical affairs or cross-border collaboration.

  • Background in managing medical projects across multi-stakeholder healthcare systems.

Education Requirements

  • Medical Degree (MD/MBBS) or PhD highly preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences (Immunology, Biomedical Science, Biology, Pharmacy) required.

  • Training in GMP and GDP is an advantage.
