Role Overview

The Manager – RWE Acceleration leads the NOCC Hyderabad-based RWE Acceleration team, which focuses on turning real-world data (RWD) strategy into operational execution.

This role acts as a bridge between US Medical Affairs and India-based operations, ensuring that real-world evidence systems, data sources, and platforms are effectively implemented to support evidence generation across the Novartis portfolio.


Core Purpose of the Role

This position is responsible for:

  • Converting RWE strategy into executable workflows

  • Operationalizing real-world data systems and platforms

  • Enabling scalable evidence-generation infrastructure

  • Aligning India and US RWE teams

  • Managing vendor, data, and platform ecosystems


Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead and develop a Hyderabad-based RWE acceleration team

  • Build capability in data evaluation and platform integration

  • Set direction in a newly established and evolving function

  • Establish delivery standards in an ambiguous environment


2. US–India Operational Bridge

  • Act as the operational link between:

    • NOCC Hyderabad RWE team

    • US RWE acceleration leadership

  • Ensure alignment on execution priorities and data strategy

  • Represent Hyderabad workstream in global planning discussions


3. Real-World Data (RWD) Management

Oversee evaluation of:

  • Claims data

  • Electronic Health Records (EHR)

  • Patient registries

  • Emerging AI-based data sources

Ensure proper:

  • Data quality assessment

  • Feasibility evaluation

  • Vendor selection and benchmarking


4. Platform & Tool Implementation

Drive implementation of:

  • Real-world evidence platforms (e.g., data42 ecosystem)

  • Data integration workflows

  • Analytical infrastructure for RWE generation

Support embedding tools into operational workflows across teams.


5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with:

  • Scientific data analytics teams

  • Research analytics managers

  • US RWE leadership teams

  • Vendor and platform partners

Align data infrastructure with:

  • Study execution needs

  • Evidence generation requirements

  • Portfolio-level decision support


6. Governance & Compliance

Ensure:

  • Data access governance compliance

  • Vendor evaluation documentation quality

  • Regulatory alignment (including FDA observational study guidance)

  • Standardization of operational processes


7. Process Design & Execution

Responsible for:

  • Building structured workflows from scratch

  • Translating strategy into repeatable operational processes

  • Defining delivery standards and accountability models

  • Scaling RWE operational capabilities


Required Qualifications

Education (Preferred)

One of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in:

    • Epidemiology

    • Biostatistics

    • Statistics

    • Bioinformatics

    • Economics

    • Related quantitative field
      + 10+ years experience

OR

  • Master’s degree in similar fields
    + 7+ years experience


Experience

Required:

  • 7–10+ years in pharmaceutical, CRO, or academic research environments

  • Experience in real-world data / observational research

  • Exposure to pharma analytics or epidemiology domains

  • Prior experience managing teams in matrix organizations

Preferred:

  • Oncology, cardiometabolic, nephrology, immunology, neuroscience exposure


Technical & Domain Expertise

Must have knowledge of:

  • Real-world data sources (claims, EHR, registries)

  • Real-world evidence (RWE) methodologies

  • Observational study design

  • Pharma data ecosystems

Familiarity with:

  • AI-enabled RWD/RWE tools

  • Data platform integration workflows

  • Regulatory guidance for observational research (FDA standards)


Leadership & Behavioral Competencies

Strong capability in:

  • Team leadership in ambiguous environments

  • Translating strategy into execution

  • Cross-geography collaboration (US–India)
