Role Summary
The Lead Expert – Scientific Writer develops and leads high-quality scientific content across medical communications and education projects. The role involves independent work, collaboration with team members, and leadership in content development, review, and quality assurance for junior writers and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Develop medical content across a range of project types and audiences, including publications, congress materials, and educational content.
Lead medium to high complexity content creation and review outputs from other writers for scientific accuracy, tone, and alignment with strategic messaging.
Facilitate concept and content development meetings with authors and stakeholders.
Act as lead representative or subject matter expert (SME) for assigned assets or functional areas.
Mentor and develop junior writers to enhance their skills and understanding.
Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Manage workload efficiently to meet deadlines and ensure clear project status reporting.
Contribute to improvement initiatives across the Global Scientific Communications Content Hub.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
9+ years of professional experience in medical communications, medical affairs, or clinical research in Pharma/Biotech/agency settings.
Proven track record in scientific writing and project leadership across multiple content types.
Advanced university degree in Science, Medicine, or related field.
Therapeutic expertise in one or more areas: Oncology, Neurology, Immunology, Fertility, Cardio-metabolic, Endocrinology.
Demonstrable stakeholder management and cross-functional project experience, preferably in international settings.
Strong analytical skills, project management, and leadership capabilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Preferred:
Deep understanding of pharmaceutical industry trends and business landscape.
