    Job Opportunity: Remote Acute IP HIMS Coder

    CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking a Remote Acute Inpatient HIMS Coder for a leading healthcare client. This role involves abstracting clinical data, accurately assigning ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnosis and procedure codes, and reviewing health records to ensure accurate DRG and POA assignments for inpatient billing.

    Position Details

    • Duration: 13 weeks with potential for renewal.
    • Compensation: $40 - $50/hr.
    • Location: Fully remote; open to candidates from FL, AZ, NC, TX, and IN.
    • Equipment: Candidates must provide their own laptop.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Abstract clinical data from a variety of medical records.
    • Assign and sequence ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnosis and procedure codes.
    • Review and interpret health record documentation to identify accurate primary and secondary diagnoses.
    • Assign DRGs and ensure POA documentation is complete and compliant.
    • Work independently to complete routine coding tasks with minimal supervision.

    Requirements

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Experience: At least 2 years of inpatient coding in an acute hospital setting.
    • Training: Completion of ICD-10 and CPT coding education.
    • Certifications: At least one of the following is required:
      • CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CPC, CPC-H/COC, CIC, or CPC-P.
    • Strong knowledge of:
      • ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines.
      • DRG and POA assignment.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
