About the Department

The MedComm, Rare Disease P&PS team operates from Zurich (HQ) and GBS Bangalore, consisting of:

Position Overview

The Global Scientific Advisor plays a strategic scientific and medical communication role across Global Medical Affairs. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing high-quality scientific content

  • Leading scientific communication strategy

  • Supporting medical education and clinical activities

  • Engaging with KOLs globally

  • Driving cross-functional alignment across medical affairs, medical excellence, and key markets

This role focuses on rare diseases:

  • Rare bleeding disorders

  • Haemoglobinopathies

  • Rare endocrine conditions


Key Responsibilities

1. Scientific Leadership & Strategy

  • Act as a subject-matter expert (SME) for rare disease therapy areas

  • Lead development and scientific review of content including:

    • Slide decks

    • Graphical abstracts

    • Omnichannel engagement materials

    • Educational content

  • Ensure scientific accuracy, compliance, and medical appropriateness

  • Provide internal medical guidance aligned with launch timelines

  • Lead strategic projects and identify opportunities for process improvement

  • Mentor new team members

  • Use and develop AI-based tools for medical communication enhancement


Qualifications

  • MD or PhD in a relevant therapeutic area (Endocrinology, Internal Medicine, General Practice, etc.)

  • Additional training/experience in medical communication preferred

  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in:

    • Medical Affairs

    • Medical Communication

    • Clinical medicine / clinical research / drug development

  • Proven success in independently planning global scientific events:

    • Advisory boards

    • Symposia

    • CME programs

    • Scientific congress activities

  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence at a global level

  • Expertise in developing compliant scientific content

  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills

  • Familiarity with AI tools for content creation or medical communication
