AvaMed Inc is a leading healthcare staffing agency providing services to all California State Correctional Facilities (CDCR). We urgently need a Pharmacist for a full-time assignment at the correctional facility in Soledad, CA. Candidates should have a minimum of 1 year of experience.

Position Details:

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:45 AM - 4:15 PM (30-minute lunch)
  • Compensation: $65/hour (1099/independent contractor)

Job Description:

  • Review and verify prescription and medication orders from authorized CDCR prescribers for completeness, correctness, authenticity, and legality.
  • Assess medication orders against the patient's medical profile for issues such as improper drug selection, under-dosage, over-dosage, and drug interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with the CDCR Formulary and manage non-formulary requests for approval as needed.
  • Prepare, manufacture, compound, and dispense drugs and pharmaceutical preparations.
  • Perform computer order entry and type prescription labels.
  • Fill prescription orders and prepare or check IV admixtures as required.
  • Consult with CDCR medical staff and the Medical Authorization Review Committee; provide discharge consultations when necessary.
  • Maintain records of drugs, poisons, and narcotics in compliance with Federal and State Laws.
  • Oversee records of drugs and chemicals received, on hand, and dispensed.
  • Implement and maintain medication delivery systems according to directives from the CDCR System-wide P&T Committee.
  • Assist the Pharmacist-in-Charge in preparing estimates for drug requisitions as required.
  • Monitor and instruct Pharmacy Technicians on standard and routine tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
