Position Overview

The Environment Monitoring (EM) Associate will be responsible for monitoring biological and airborne particulate levels within cleanroom environments that support the preparation, compounding, and filling of sterile injectable drug products. The role requires strict adherence to aseptic practices and requires detailed attention to documentation and data verification, operating specialized environmental monitoring software and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

First 6 Months:

  • Collect environmental and product samples within ISO 8 environments.
  • Operate monitoring and sampling equipment, including related software for data compilation.
  • Prepare necessary supplies for sample collection and testing.
  • Operate Autoclave to sterilize required materials.
  • Perform verification and incubation of samples.
  • Maintain accurate records, verifying the completeness and correctness of environmental monitoring data.
  • Adhere to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), ensuring compliance and maintaining certifications.
  • Obtain Aseptic Gown Certification.

6 to 12 Months:

  • Successfully gown for ISO 7, 6, and 5 classifications.
  • Perform environmental monitoring for surface, air, personnel, product, and utility systems like compressed gases and WFI (Water for Injection).
  • Write clear and concise memos regarding environmental observations.
  • Assist in investigating controlled areas and review environmental data for accuracy.
  • Support training for Aseptic Area Gown Certification.
  • Obtain trainer certification.

12 to 24 Months:

  • Cross-train on multiple sterile filling lines, ensuring ongoing gown certification for ISO 7, 6, and 5 classifications.
  • Maintain high standards for GMP procedures and documentation.
  • Assist in environmental investigations and trend environmental data.
  • Lead training programs for technicians in assigned areas.
  • Review and modify SOPs as necessary using Master Control.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma required. Associate degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required.
    • Experience with environmental monitoring or laboratory procedures is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to read and understand detailed procedures with minimal supervision.
    • Strong communication skills to collaborate with other departments on environmental monitoring and quality issues.
    • Capable of making simple decisions based on available information.
    • Must work independently, follow procedures accurately, and ensure proper reporting of deviations.
    • Strong dexterity and physical balance for aseptic gowning requirements.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift 25 lbs unassisted.
    • Ability to push, pull, twist, and stand for prolonged periods.
    • Ability to work in confined spaces and exposure to allergens.

Shift Details

  • Weekend Night Shift: Friday - Sunday & Every other Thursday, 4:00 PM – 4:30 AM
  • Shift Differential:
    • Weekend Night Shift (12HRS) – 15%
