The Department of Pathology at Duke University Medical Center is recruiting for a full-time faculty position in the role of Assistant Director of Clinical Microbiology for Duke University Health System Clinical Laboratories. This position will also hold the academic rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology.

As the Director of Mycobacteriology and Assistant Director of Molecular Microbiology, this individual will join the faculty of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory and the ACGME-accredited Medical Microbiology Fellowship training program to help advance the clinical, research, and educational missions of the department.

  • Position Type: Non-tenure track
  • Academic Rank: Based on experience
  • Qualifications: M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. with fellowship training (ABP MM or ASM CPEP) and board certification or eligibility in Medical Microbiology (American Board of Pathology or American Board of Medical Microbiology).
  • Preferred Expertise: Mycobacteriology, Mycobacterial susceptibility, molecular diagnostics, next-generation sequencing.
  • Research: Candidates should have a demonstrated record of academic achievement through independent or collaborative research and scholarly publications. Experience with clinical trials and clinical/translational research is beneficial.
