Role Summary:

The Director, GSC Systems & Solutions Lead will play a critical role in driving the strategy, transformation, innovation, and operational excellence of Global Scientific Communications (GSC) systems and capabilities at the Lilly Capability Center in Bangalore. This role will partner closely with global and regional stakeholders, enabling best-in-class scientific content creation and delivery through technology, automation, and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities:

1. GSC Strategy & Capabilities Development

  • Key contributor to the GSC innovation and transformation strategy.

  • Lead local implementation of GSC strategy by partnering with global and cross-functional teams.

  • Build and maintain core and emerging capabilities, including:

    • Regulatory and submission writing

    • Transparency initiatives

    • Publication planning and strategy

    • Structured/component-based authoring

    • Data visualization

  • Execute the GSC Transformation Map by driving improvements in tools and processes.

  • Lead design, development, and implementation of automation and tech-enabled solutions aligned to business objectives.

  • Monitor, evaluate, and enhance GSC capabilities using:

    • Performance metrics

    • Stakeholder feedback

    • Engagement with professional bodies

  • Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and process automation.

2. Data, Technology & Analytics

  • Drive development of integrated data and analytics capabilities to:

    • Improve productivity

    • Enhance efficiency

    • Elevate user experience

  • Provide business and operational data analysis to support the GSC leadership team (Cork and Bangalore).

  • Lead and support cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives.

3. Enterprise Leadership

  • Adapt to changing business priorities and lead with agility.

  • Monitor external trends and incorporate industry best practices.

  • Participate in industry forums and organizations (e.g., CSE, DIA, ISMPP) to shape external standards.

  • Ensure all initiatives comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal quality standards.

  • Drive shared learning and knowledge transfer across teams and geographies.

4. People Management & Organizational Development

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to support inclusive, innovative, and continuous learning culture.

  • (If applicable) Recruit, develop, and retain a workforce with capabilities in:

    • Scientific communications

    • Technology and automation

    • Project management

    • Drug development

    • Therapeutic area science

    • Cross-functional leadership

  • Develop future leaders with judgment-based decision-making and strategic thinking.

  • Manage an agile organization that adapts to a dynamic and evolving portfolio.


Qualifications & Skills:

Required:

  • Strong experience in scientific communications, systems, and solutions leadership

  • Proven track record in process innovation, automation, and business transformation

  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional and global environments

  • Experience working with data, analytics, and performance metrics

  • Excellent strategic thinking, collaboration, and change management skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with structured content authoring, data visualization tools

  • Prior involvement in industry organizations (e.g., CSE, DIA, ISMPP)

  • Background in pharmaceutical R&D or communications strategy
