Role Overview

The Commercial Data Management Manager will lead the execution of Data Platform Operations in partnership with global Technology teams. This role involves managing feature execution within Product Teams, enabling innovative data solutions, supporting transition of vendor-led operations into Amgen India Innovation Center, and ensuring operational excellence.

You will partner closely with senior leaders, cross-functional teams, and global stakeholders (US & India) to implement scalable data solutions, build connected data products, and manage large-scale strategic programs.


Key Responsibilities

Execution of Data-Enabling Features

  • Lead prioritization, execution, and deployment of product team features aligned with SOPs.

  • Manage SDLC stages: requirements, design, testing, and documentation in partnership with Technology teams.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across US Commercial functions (Incentive Compensation, Forecasting, Analytics, Field Reporting).

  • Ensure governance, system testing, UAT, and traceability throughout deployment lifecycle.

  • Work with syndicated data (IQVIA DDD, Xponent, ELAAD), digital marketing data, and internal CRM/HR/Patient Hub datasets to build HCP & Patient-centric connected datasets.

  • Develop connected data products enabling insights on prescriber & patient behavior to support targeting algorithms.

  • Oversee Big Data platform (AWS, Airflow, Databricks): access, costs, data quality, infrastructure monitoring.

  • Drive adoption of advanced tools/technologies: automated anomaly detection, AI/GenAI models, searchability, bots, and automated document generation.

  • Collaborate across data pillars (MDM, Data Platforms, Patient Data Management, Data Acquisition & Governance) for aligned solutions.

  • Identify process gaps, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.

Work Transition & Insourcing

  • Partner with Senior Manager, Data Platforms to execute vendor-to-internal team transition.

  • Develop standard processes for onboarding and knowledge management.

  • Ensure minimal disruption and operational readiness during transition.

  • Build robust documentation and knowledge repositories for efficient operations.

Cross-Team & Organizational Engagement

  • Work across time zones with US and India teams, driving alignment on goals and deliverables.

  • Act as liaison between Amgen India Innovation Center and Customer Data & Analytics Teams.

  • Ensure consistent communication, process alignment, and shared success measures.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with 4–6 years of data management experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8–10 years of data management experience

  • Experience working in global teams across time zones and cultures

  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills

  • Excellent oral and written English skills

Must-Have Skills

  • Proven success in high-performing data management teams (collaboration, innovation, improvement)

  • Strong background in Data Platforms Operations and Agile Product team delivery

  • Experience in global data transformation projects (India/global teams)

  • Knowledge of data architecture, data flow design, data modeling, and data profiling

  • Hands-on expertise with AWS, Databricks, SQL, Python, R

  • Ability to conduct root-cause analysis and implement long-term remediation

  • Strong solution design experience for both small features and large-scale programs

  • Quick learning agility for complex commercial data flows

  • Alignment with industry best practices and forward-looking data platform roadmaps

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in life sciences commercial data (Data Platforms, Patient Data)

  • Understanding of syndicated datasets (IQVIA, etc.)

  • Exposure to multinational teams and cross-cultural collaboration

  • Familiarity with compliance and data privacy requirements

  • Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
