Job Title: Critical Care Pharmacist
Location: Dayton Children's - Main Campus
Department: Clinical Pharmacy
Schedule: Full-time
Hours: 40 hours per week


Position Overview:

The Critical Care Pharmacist is responsible for the provision of safe, effective, appropriate, and cost-effective medication therapy to patients in the Emergency Department (ED), Newborn Intensive Care (NICU), and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). This pharmacist will play a crucial role in responding to traumas in the ED and codes throughout the hospital. The role includes overseeing the medication reconciliation process during patient transitions from the ED and attending evening PICU rounds to collaborate with the patient care teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to traumas in the ED and codes throughout the hospital.
  • Perform and oversee medication reconciliation at the patient’s admission transition point from the ED.
  • Attend evening PICU rounds (7 days on/7 days off) to collaborate with the patient care teams and improve patient outcomes.
  • Provide clinical recommendations and interventions to enhance patient safety and care.

Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.
  • Licensure:
    • Eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Ohio. Licensure must be obtained prior to the start date.
  • Experience:
    • PGY1 residency training at a children’s hospital or PGY2 pediatric residency training or >2 years of hospital experience.
