Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – Outpatient Cardiology

Job Overview

Athens Regional Specialty Services is seeking a motivated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support clinical operations within its Outpatient Cardiology department. The role involves delivering patient-centered care and assisting clinical teams in a structured and fast-paced outpatient environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of patient care tasks under the supervision of a physician, advanced practice provider (APP), or registered nurse.

  • Support clinical procedures, patient preparation, and routine diagnostic activities in accordance with established care standards.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with clinical and operational guidelines.

  • Assist with patient flow, equipment usage, and coordination of daily cardiology clinic functions.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or Nursing Assistant program required.

  • In lieu of formal education, one (1) year of medical assistant or related clinical experience is acceptable.

Experience

  • No experience required if a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant program has been completed.

  • Without program completion, one (1) year of medical assistant or related clinical experience is required.

Licensure & Certifications

  • No licensure required by law.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Certification from AAMA or a similarly recognized medical assistant certifying organization required.
