Role Overview:

The Clinical Specialist Consultant plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability of clinical trial data by reviewing and guiding the administration of rating scales. This role involves direct interaction with raters to ensure standardized assessment practices, offering support in the correct use of scales and scoring techniques, and providing feedback when necessary.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment Review and Guidance: Review scales administered by raters to ensure consistency and reliability across clinical trials. Provide feedback and guidance to raters on assessment methodologies and scoring techniques.
  • Training and Calibration: Participate in the orientation, training, and calibration activities to ensure raters are fully equipped to conduct standardized assessments.
  • Rater Interaction: Engage with raters to discuss case data, resolve issues, and ensure appropriate scale item use. Conduct functional assessments of rater performance (e.g., mock interviews).
  • Documentation: Submit all required documentation related to assigned tasks promptly, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Data Evaluation: Review case data in preparation for discussions with raters, ensuring the correct preparation of documents and familiarity with relevant issues.
  • Ongoing Support: Assist with communications and disseminate information related to the clinical trial process, ensuring clarity and effective implementation.

Required Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Education: Master’s degree (MA/MS) in Psychology, Counseling, Psychiatric Nursing, Social Work, or a related field, or equivalent.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience administering psychiatric assessments, rating scales, and/or structured clinical interviews.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience with psychiatric populations.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience administering scales in clinical research trials (not including graduate/doctoral research).
    • Experience in central nervous system (CNS) trials is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with personnel and clients at all levels.
    • Excellent organizational, time management, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office applications.

Fluency Requirements:

  • Current openings require fluency in English and a native speaker of the language required for the trial.
