Job Summary

ICON plc is seeking a knowledgeable and dynamic Clinical Trial Liaison (CTL) to join our Japan team, supporting clinical trial sites across Osaka and Tokyo. This hybrid/home-based role focuses on engaging investigators and site staff, providing scientific and clinical support to ensure trial success and patient recruitment. Ideal candidates hold a doctoral degree (PhD, M.D., PharmD) with strong clinical research experience and excellent communication skills in English and Japanese. This is a unique opportunity to drive clinical development and build vital partnerships within the healthcare ecosystem.


Responsibilities

  • Provide scientific and clinical support to investigators and site staff to ensure comprehensive understanding of study protocols

  • Develop and implement site recruitment strategies to optimize patient enrollment

  • Engage and build relationships with key medical, scientific, and advocacy stakeholders

  • Participate in industry meetings and conferences to promote trial access and site engagement

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical operations and medical teams

  • Monitor and report on site performance and recruitment progress

  • Stay updated on therapeutic areas, products, and clinical development trends


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, M.D., PharmD) in a relevant scientific or medical discipline

  • Experience in clinical research within Pharma, Biotech, or CRO environments preferred

  • Broad scientific and clinical knowledge with understanding of clinical trial development

  • Business acumen and strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills

  • Fluency in Japanese and English (business-level proficiency)

  • Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and build professional networks

  • Willingness and flexibility to travel up to 75% for site visits and conferences

  • Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently and collaboratively
