Job Summary:

The Clinical Team Lead (CTL) is responsible for the clinical delivery of research trials and functions as the Clinical Project Manager within the core project team. The CTL oversees clinical and site management, manages project scope, timelines, quality, and budget, and serves as the primary point of contact for clinical delivery with clients.

Travel: Up to 25%


Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Leadership & Clinical Delivery:

  • Drive clinical project performance to meet contracted deliverables while maintaining operational excellence.

  • Lead development of clinical project strategy and ensure prioritization with project team and stakeholders.

  • Manage operational aspects of trials, including subject recruitment, retention, vendor delivery, and monitoring visit strategy.

  • Identify and mitigate clinical, financial, and quality risks using risk management and quality by design principles.

  • Ensure adherence to project governance, SOPs, client, and regulatory requirements.

  • Track KPIs and manage scope changes and the change order process.

2. Team Management & Mentorship:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to project team members.

  • Facilitate communication, teamwork, and high performance across the clinical project team.

  • Develop team members in multiple areas of expertise and provide feedback to line managers.

  • Inspire effective teamwork and motivate staff within a matrix system.

3. Financial & Resource Management:

  • Partner with project team to manage budgets, resources, and scope.

  • Forecast clinical project revenue and manage project costs within budget.

  • Monitor clinical resource projections and escalate constraints proactively.

4. Regulatory & Client Engagement:

  • Participate and oversee regulatory/ethics committee submissions, tracking, and documentation.

  • Support new business opportunities, including bid defense preparation.

  • Negotiate and liaise with clients professionally and present project updates to stakeholders.

5. Additional Duties:

  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.


Requirements:

Education:

  • University/college degree (Life Sciences preferred) or certification in a related allied health profession (nursing, medical, laboratory technology).

  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience:

  • Prior experience as a Clinical Team Lead.

  • 5+ years of clinical research/monitoring experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Oncology experience required.

  • Knowledge of ICH Guidelines, GCP, and international regulatory requirements.

  • Experience managing projects in matrix and virtual environments.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Advanced computer skills: Word, Excel, Project, Access, PowerPoint.

  • Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to lead by example and handle multiple competing priorities.

  • Financial awareness and ability to utilize financial tracking systems effectively.

  • Ability to mentor junior team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree.

  • PMP certification.

  • 2+ years CRA experience, on-site or in-house.


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Target Pay Range: $130,000–145,000 USD annually
