Position Overview

The Neurology Clinical Operations Therapeutic Area Leader will be responsible for leading the strategy and delivery of the Neurology portfolio of programs and studies within Roche/Genentech’s Pharma Product Development Global Clinical Operations (PDG). This senior leadership role involves strategic oversight, cross-functional collaboration, and direct management of large teams to ensure the successful execution of clinical trials in Neurology.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and Refine Neurology Portfolio Strategy

    • Accountable for shaping and executing the clinical operations strategy for Neurology.

    • Adapt strategies to align with evolving landscapes, Clinical Development Plans (CDP), and the One Pharma Strategy.

  2. Portfolio Oversight and Risk Management

    • Oversee asset and study delivery, ensuring progress is tracked, risks are identified, and mitigation strategies are implemented for efficient trial execution.

  3. Strategic Stakeholder Alignment and Decision-Making

    • Collaborate across PDG, APO, COEs, and enterprise teams to align on strategic priorities.

    • Act as a key decision-maker for Neurology portfolio-related operational decisions, especially those extending beyond PDG country footprints.

  4. Operational Excellence and Innovation

    • Enhance clinical operations through analytics, driving efficiency, quality, and budget management.

    • Innovate to improve probability of technical success (PTS) and create patient- and investigator-focused research approaches.

  5. Representation and Influence Across Roche Enterprise

    • Represent the Neurology portfolio across Roche/Genentech and with external stakeholders, such as health authorities, TAEs, patient advocacy groups, and vendors.

  6. Leadership and Talent Development

    • Lead a matrixed team of ~150 employees, including 10-12 direct reports.

    • Cultivate a high-performance, collaborative culture that emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I).

  7. Collective Leadership with an Enterprise Mindset

    • Serve as part of the Portfolio Delivery Leadership Team, aligning PDG and PD priorities to drive patient-centered outcomes.

  8. People Management and Administrative Oversight

    • Oversee team performance through feedback and development planning.

    • Handle administrative responsibilities such as Workday tasks and employment matters to ensure smooth team operations.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience:

    • 15+ years in pharmaceutical clinical operations, with at least 10 years in global clinical operations strategy leadership.

    • Experience in managing large, matrixed organizations and leading cross-functional teams.

  • Neurology Expertise:

    • Strong knowledge of neurological diseases, including global trends and challenges in the Neurology development landscape.

  • Clinical Development Knowledge:

    • Comprehensive understanding of global Pharma clinical development, with experience in international settings.

  • Leadership Skills:

    • Proven track record in strategy development and execution using data-driven decision-making.

    • Ability to manage and develop high-performing teams, and drive cross-functional collaboration.

  • Language Skills:

    • Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus).


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range (California location): $227,600 - $422,600 (based on experience and qualifications).

  • Bonus: Discretionary annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
