Clinical Laboratory Supervisor – Blood Bank (West Hills, CA)

Job Summary:
UCLA Health is hiring an experienced Clinical Laboratory Supervisor to oversee operations in the Blood Bank at West Valley Medical Center in West Hills, California. This full-time career position blends hands-on technical work (40%) with supervisory leadership (60%), offering an opportunity to directly impact patient care and drive operational excellence. Salary Range: $112,900 – $256,900 annually

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise daily Blood Bank operations to ensure efficient workflow and compliance.
Perform hands-on bench work for 40% of your shift in transfusion-related testing.
Lead, coach, and evaluate a team of Clinical Laboratory Scientists and Lab Technicians.
Collaborate closely with Pathologists to ensure diagnostic quality.
Develop and implement quality assurance protocols and technical procedures.
Oversee lab contracts, vendor management, and inventory control.
Foster a culture of safety, accuracy, and continuous professional growth.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license.
Proven experience in Blood Bank or Transfusion Services.
Minimum 4–6 years of clinical lab experience preferred; leadership or supervisory experience a strong advantage.
Strong understanding of CLIA, CAP, AABB, and other relevant regulatory standards.
Excellent communication, team leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
