Job Overview

IQVIA, a global leader in clinical research and healthcare intelligence, is seeking a skilled Clinical Data Specialist to join its Clinical Data Management (CDM) team in Bengaluru, India. This role supports the delivery of high-quality, compliant clinical data management outputs across global clinical trials.

The Clinical Data Specialist will contribute to core data management activities and may assume protocol-level coordination or task-specific leadership responsibilities under the guidance of senior data management leadership. This position is well-suited for professionals looking to advance their career in clinical data operations within a hybrid working environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide data management support to clinical studies, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timeliness of deliverables

  • Serve as Data Operations Coordinator (DOC) for:

    • One protocol with fewer than five operations staff (excluding Data Entry), or

    • Fifteen or more low to moderately complex central laboratory studies

  • Act as a task-level lead (e.g., clinical data coding, database testing, or database design for systems not requiring advanced programming), with appropriate guidance

  • Serve as back-up to the Data Operations Coordinator (DOC) or Data Team Lead (DTL), as required

  • Perform ongoing clinical data review activities

  • Write, manage, and resolve data queries and clarifications

  • Lead or participate in database audit activities

  • Develop, test, and maintain clinical trial databases and specifications

  • Perform testing of programmed database components

  • Conduct clinical data coding in accordance with study requirements

  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), working instructions, and regulatory guidelines

  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional CDM teams, managers, and clients


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, or a related discipline

  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree

  • Exposure to medical terminology and clinical research processes


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum Experience:

    • 2–4 years of relevant experience in Clinical Data Management, clinical research, or related data operations roles

  • Experience supporting EDC-based clinical trials and database activities is preferred


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of clinical data management processes and workflows

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills

  • High level of accuracy with exceptional attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and resolve issues proactively

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders

  • Proficiency in computer applications used in clinical data management environments
