Role Summary
The Clinical Assistant / Clinical Associate – Critical Care is responsible for providing comprehensive clinical support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and other critical care settings. The role involves patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, monitoring critically ill patients, emergency management, clinical documentation, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
The position is ideal for early-career physicians with postgraduate training in Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, or Anaesthesia who are passionate about critical care medicine and patient management.
Key Responsibilities
Critical Care Patient Management
Assess, evaluate, and manage critically ill patients admitted to ICU and critical care units.
Perform comprehensive clinical examinations and formulate management plans.
Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans based on clinical response.
Ensure evidence-based clinical care and adherence to critical care protocols.
Clinical Assessment & Monitoring

Laboratory Investigations

Clinical Progress Indicators
Escalate clinical concerns promptly to senior consultants.
Emergency & Critical Care Support
Participate in the management of:
Medical Emergencies
Code Blue Situations
Cardiac Arrests
Respiratory Emergencies
Sepsis and Shock Cases
Assist in advanced life support interventions.
Support rapid response and emergency care teams.
Procedural Assistance
Assist or perform procedures as per competency and departmental protocols, including:
Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) Sampling
Central Venous Line Assistance
Endotracheal Intubation Assistance
Ventilator Management Support
Pleural Procedures
Critical Care Interventions
Ensure adherence to aseptic and patient safety practices.
Ventilator & Respiratory Care Management
Support management of mechanically ventilated patients.
Monitor ventilator parameters and patient responses.
Collaborate with pulmonologists, intensivists, and respiratory therapists.
Assist in weaning and respiratory support protocols.
Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration
Work closely with:
Intensivists
Pulmonologists
Anaesthesiologists
Nursing Teams
Physiotherapists
Dieticians
Clinical Support Services
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and patient care discussions.
Ensure continuity and coordination of patient care.
Documentation & Clinical Records
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of:

Ensure compliance with hospital documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
Patient & Family Communication
Communicate patient status updates to families under consultant guidance.
Provide counseling regarding treatment plans and expected outcomes.

Required Qualifications
Education
MD / DNB in:
General Medicine
Pulmonary Medicine
Anaesthesia
Preferred Qualification
IDCCM (Indian Diploma in Critical Care Medicine)
OR
FNB Critical Care Medicine
(Optional but preferred)
Experience
0–4 years of post-postgraduate experience.
Fresh postgraduates with strong critical care exposure may also apply.
Experience in ICU, Emergency Medicine, or Critical Care settings preferred.
