Job Summary

The Packaging Development Chemist is responsible for laboratory activities related to the development of primary, secondary, and associated packaging components for various liquid dosage forms, including oral liquids, nasal sprays, and ophthalmic products. This role also involves providing technical support for issue investigations concerning packaging components for Supply Chain Management Products (SCMP) and New Product Development (NPD) products.


Job Responsibilities

Packaging Development

  • Create and maintain test methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for primary packaging testing.
  • Design and execute package-related testing in the lab with proper documentation.
  • Coordinate packaging-related testing with third-party laboratories.

Investigations and Process Development

  • Conduct investigational studies and testing on new products under development and existing commercial products.
  • Develop process parameters and physical specifications for new primary packaging components.

Vendor and Team Coordination

  • Communicate with packaging vendors for technical discussions and updates.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to achieve desired outcomes while demonstrating organizational values: Collaboration, Courage, Perseverance, and Passion.

Compliance and Safety

  • Perform all activities in compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
  • Adhere to all compliance programs, including the Global Business Ethics and Compliance Program, Global Quality policies and procedures, Safety and Environment policies, and HR policies.

Other Duties

  • Execute additional relevant responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education

  • University degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Polymer Science, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related science discipline.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of common packaging materials such as plastics, paper, and glass.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to write detailed reports.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in packaging or disposable devices within a pharmaceutical R&D environment.
  • Knowledge of GMP and GLP environments and requirements in pharmaceutical companies.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience and understanding of relevant guidelines and practices (preferred).
