Role Overview

Colgate-Palmolive is seeking an Associate Scientist – Toxicology to join our Global Product Safety team in Mumbai. This hybrid role provides critical support in evaluating the safety of products, raw materials, and human-use protocols, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and consumer safety standards. The position operates on a shift schedule to maintain alignment with the US-based team in Piscataway.

As an Associate Scientist, you will leverage your toxicology expertise to conduct safety assessments, perform literature reviews, and support regulatory submissions, contributing to global product safety initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct safety clearance reviews for new product formulas, experimental recipes, and clinical/consumer study protocols.

  • Prepare Product Safety Reports and support senior toxicologists with formula assessments for regulatory requests and product registrations.

  • Perform literature searches and evaluate toxicological and scientific databases to support new raw material safety evaluations.

  • Maintain Compliance Check values within Colgate’s Product Data Management (PDM) system.

  • Collaborate with the Global Product Safety team, ensuring workflow alignment with US-based colleagues.

  • Participate in shift schedules to ensure overlapping working hours with the global team.


Education & Experience Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Toxicology, Pharmacology, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 1 year of industry experience in Toxicology, Product Safety, or related fields.

  • Experience within consumer products, medical devices, food, or pharmaceutical industries is preferred.


Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Ability to build relationships and execute tasks effectively.

  • Proficiency in performing literature searches and evaluating toxicological and scientific databases.

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements for product safety and toxicology.

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
