Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Intellectual Property (IP) Counsel to join our Princeton, NJ office. In this role, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design and implement IP strategies that support Dr. Reddy’s mission of delivering affordable healthcare solutions.

You will provide legal counsel on patent litigations across North America (small and large molecule), oversee the full life cycle of projects from selection to launch, and work closely with teams in Portfolio, R&D, Business Development, and Regulatory Affairs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Litigation & Legal Strategy

    • Manage North America patent litigations (ANDA/ANDS, 505(b)(2), biosimilars).

    • Handle post-grant proceedings by developing and implementing claims and defenses.

  • Patent Clearance & Compliance

    • Secure freedom-to-operate, including clearance of Orange Book and unlisted patents for bulk API, synthesis routes, dosage forms, and polymorphs.

    • Prepare ANDA patent certifications, notice letters, and detailed statements.

  • IP Review & Due Diligence

    • Analyze patents, file histories, prior art, ongoing litigations, and citizen petitions to develop Paragraph IV and related strategies.

    • Conduct IP due diligence and support business development initiatives.

  • Patent Prosecution & Advisory

    • Manage drafting and prosecution of patent applications.

    • Advise stakeholders on pharmaceutical patent and regulatory issues, including exclusivity and launch scenarios.


Qualifications

  • Education

    • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

    • Licensed to practice in New Jersey, or in another state with eligibility for NJ in-house counsel license.

    • Registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office preferred.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering (Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field strongly preferred). Advanced degree highly preferred.

  • Experience

    • Minimum 8+ years of patent litigation experience.

    • Strong expertise in Hatch-Waxman matters.

  • Skills & Attributes

    • Demonstrated patent litigation expertise.

    • Leadership through example, effort, and attitude.

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or otherwise authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring visa transfer or sponsorship (now or in the future).
