Primary Responsibilities
Code inpatient and/or outpatient medical records accurately using ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes.
Abstract and index medical records to support hospital, regional, and government planning and ensure accurate reimbursement.
Maintain ≥95% accuracy in code assignment and sequencing according to departmental guidelines.
Meet departmental productivity standards and coding deadlines.
Participate in coding meetings and educational sessions to maintain and improve coding skills.
Demonstrate time management and reduce non-essential interruptions.
Flexibly work additional hours or adjust shifts as required.
Maintain cooperative relationships with all departmental and hospital staff.
Attend conference calls to provide information related to coding activities.
Comply with employment contract terms, company policies, and directives, including reassignments, shift changes, and flexible work arrangements.
Required Qualifications
Education: Graduate degree.
Certification:
Certified coder through AAPC or AHIMA.
Acceptable certifications: CPC, CCS, CIC, COC.
Proof of current coding certification required during interview or offer process.
Experience: Freshers or candidates with experience in medical coding are eligible.
