Role Overview
Mercor is seeking Biology Experts to collaborate with a leading AI research laboratory on advancing frontier biology problem-solving. The project focuses on developing complex, original Olympiad-style biology questions designed to test and challenge state-of-the-art AI systems.
This is a short-term, high-impact remote role with potential for extension based on performance. It is ideal for individuals with advanced academic training in biology or equivalent competitive Olympiad experience.
Key Responsibilities
Develop original, advanced biology problems aligned with International Biology Olympiad (IBO) standards to assess AI model performance.
Review AI-generated responses for correctness, logic, clarity, and scientific accuracy.
Identify reasoning gaps, logical inconsistencies, and insufficient scientific justification in AI solutions.
Produce complete, accurate solutions with clear chain-of-thought reasoning using professional LaTeX formatting.
Maintain high levels of academic rigor, precision, and problem difficulty.
Required Qualifications
Experience Required:
Minimum of 1–3 years of academic, research, or competitive biology experience, along with at least one of the following:
Master’s or PhD in Biology or a closely related scientific discipline.
Participation or achievement in Biology Olympiads such as IBO, USABO, INBO, BBO, EUBO, CBO, ABO, or equivalent national and international competitions.
Additional Requirements:
Strong command of core biological theory and experimental principles.
Proven ability to write clear, structured reasoning for advanced biology problems.
Proficiency in LaTeX for scientific formatting is mandatory.
Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and scientific rigor.
Ability to evaluate the complexity, validity, and depth of biology questions.
English fluency (written and verbal).
Opportunity Details
Commitment: 20 hours per week minimum; up to 40 hours per week available.
Project Duration: Approximately 2 months, with extension potential.
Start Date: Rolling; onboarding typically completed within 1–2 days after approval.
Compensation & Contract Terms
Hourly rate: USD 60–80, based on experience and deliverable quality.
Independent contractor role open to global applicants.
Weekly payments processed via Stripe Connect.
